AB Scan Optical Ultrasound

At the forefront of advanced eye diagnostics, our A-Scan and B-Scan Optical Ultrasound services offer high-precision imaging that helps in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning for a variety of eye conditions. These non-invasive ultrasound techniques allow us to see the inner structures of the eye clearly—beyond what is visible during a standard eye exam.

Whether you’re preparing for cataract surgery, being evaluated for intraocular tumors, or have conditions like retinal detachment or vitreous hemorrhage, our ultrasound imaging tools provide detailed insights with exceptional clarity. We use these technologies to measure, monitor, and map abnormalities with confidence and accuracy.

Performed by skilled professionals using state-of-the-art equipment, the procedure is painless, safe, and quick, ensuring a comfortable experience while delivering critical data for your eye health management.

Description & Process

We offer both A-Scan (Amplitude Scan) and B-Scan (Brightness Scan) ultrasound services:

  • A-Scan is primarily used to measure the length of the eye and calculate the correct intraocular lens (IOL) power for patients undergoing cataract surgery. It gives precise biometric readings that are essential for surgical accuracy.

  • B-Scan provides two-dimensional cross-sectional images of the eye and orbit, especially useful when the internal view is obscured due to dense cataracts, corneal opacities, vitreous hemorrhage, or trauma. It helps diagnose:

  • Retinal detachment
  • Vitreous detachment or hemorrhage
  • Tumors (melanoma, retinoblastoma)
  • Foreign bodies
  • Optic nerve disorders

The Process Includes:

  1. A non-invasive ultrasound probe is gently placed over your closed eyelid with a special gel.

  2. The scan takes just a few minutes and is completely painless.

  3. Results are interpreted by our eye care specialists and discussed with you to guide treatment or surgical plans.

Result

The use of A-Scan and B-Scan ultrasound greatly enhances diagnostic accuracy, especially in complex or obscured cases. It ensures our patients receive the most appropriate and effective treatment based on real-time, evidence-based imaging.

  • Accurate Measurement for Eye Surgery. A-Scan ensures precise lens power calculations for cataract surgery, minimizing refractive surprises.
  • Early Detection of Hidden Conditions. B-Scan reveals eye issues that are invisible during routine eye exams, especially when the view is blocked.
  • Safe and Painless Procedure. Completely non-invasive, the ultrasound is performed on closed eyes with no discomfort or recovery time needed.
  • Guides Better Treatment Decisions. Provides crucial data that helps ophthalmologists choose the most effective treatment plan.

Our Mission

Our mission is to combine technology and expertise to offer comprehensive eye diagnostics that leave no question unanswered. With this service, we aim to detect diseases earlier, plan surgeries more effectively, and support better long-term vision outcomes for all our patients.
